At the Meta Connect 2026 Keynote, CEO Mark Zuckerberg took the stage to unveil a massive wave of hardware and software innovations centered around artificial intelligence, personal superintelligence, and wearable technology. Moving past traditional smartphone paradigms, Meta is aggressively betting on a future defined by AI agents, advanced audio and display glasses, and lightweight mixed-reality devices.

1. “Muse”: The Personal Superintelligence Platform

The centerpiece of Meta’s software ecosystem is Muse, an advanced AI agent platform designed to act as a 24/7 personal assistant.

  • Secure Architecture: Every user’s Muse operates within an advanced Muse Secure VM (Virtual Machine) running on Meta’s servers, ensuring complete privacy and isolation. Meta is also rolling out a confidential VM backed by custom encryption keys (developed in collaboration with security expert Moxy Marlin Spike), ensuring that even Meta cannot access personal user data.
  • Computer Use & Automations: Meta announced new Mac app integrations featuring native dictation and computer use capabilities—allowing Muse to independently drive desktop applications, manage files, sort emails, and execute multi-step workflows.
  • E-Commerce & Major Connectors: Meta is partnering with major global retailers including Walmart, Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Wayfair, Instacart, Expedia, and Spotify to allow Muse to handle shopping, travel bookings, and service tasks automatically.
  • Developer Platform: Meta is opening up its connector ecosystem to developers, having already received over 1,500 applications in its first week.

2. Next-Generation Ray-Ban Meta and Audio Glasses

Meta expanded its smart eyewear lineup to over 100 style combinations, emphasizing that wearable technology must look and feel like great fashion first.

  • Ultra-Light Audio Glasses: Designed without cameras to be exceptionally slim, lightweight, and indistinguishable from traditional eyewear, these audio-only glasses offer all-day battery life for music, calls, and interacting with Muse. The lineup includes classic frames like the iconic Ray-Ban Clubmaster.
  • Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3: Featuring a slimmed-down frame, adjustable temple tips, and six upgraded microphones capable of isolating voice in extreme environments (like wind tunnels), the Gen 3 lineup introduces iconic styles like the Aviator (with a limited 90th-anniversary vintage edition) and collaborations with celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Lisa.
  • FDA-Approved Hearing Enhancement: Turning smart glasses into life-changing medical tech, the new over-the-counter hearing enhancement feature provides FDA-cleared amplification to assist individuals with mild-to-moderate hearing loss directly through their open-ear audio glasses.

3. Meta VR Glasses: A Quantum Leap in Spatial Computing

Departing from heavy, traditional VR headsets (“hockey helmets”), Meta introduced the groundbreaking Meta VR Glasses, weighing a mere 100 grams (about the weight of a deck of cards).

  • Split Architecture: By separating processing and battery components (worn via a discreet belt puck), Meta achieved an ultra-light form factor featuring rich colors, deep blacks, and high-resolution displays.
  • The Ultimate Multi-Tool: Operating natively via hand gestures, eye tracking, and voice commands through Muse, the device functions simultaneously as a private IMAX-enhanced cinema, a multi-monitor productivity workstation, a gaming console (supporting full Quest libraries and Xbox Cloud Gaming), and a mixed-reality portal.
  • Photorealistic Hologram Calling: Soling the complex problem of full-body avatars in VR, users can now make video calls and appear as full-body, photorealistic holograms.
  • Pricing & Availability: Shipping in Spring 2027 for $1,299.

4. Introducing “Muse Charm”

For users not wearing glasses, Meta previewed Muse Charm—a keychain-sized hardware device packing the full real-time voice and avatar stack of the Muse AI agent. Featuring a fingerprint sensor for instant, hands-free activation, the compact device is slated for a holiday release in December.
