3 Main Components of OpenAI Dots
- Context (Background Memory): Constantly remembers conversations, explorations, and provided data (e.g., project budgets) related to a project. There is no need to explain the same details repeatedly.
- Tools & Apps (Tool Access): Users can grant permissions to read data, utilize features, and communicate across other applications (e.g., granting read-only access to messages).
- Personal Cloud Computer: Every Dot is assigned a unique Cloud Computer and Browser. Tasks continue uninterrupted via this cloud facility when the user’s local machine is offline.
Practical Use Cases
- For Students: Can be used to continuously monitor for new scholarships, internships, and competitions relevant to their field of study, shortlist the best options, and generate suitable cover letters.
- For Business Professionals: Can be utilized to track and notify users of approaching project deadlines, analyze incoming messages from clients, and automatically suggest appropriate responses or strategic actions.
Availability and Limitations
- Eligible Accounts: Restricted to users aged 18 and older with Pro (Pro 100, Pro 200, Pro 500), Business Premium, and Enterprise accounts.
- Available Regions: Currently released only for the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom (UK) during the launch phase. (It will be available in Sri Lanka in the future).
- Platform: Currently available exclusively on the ChatGPT Desktop App, with Browser and Mobile rollouts planned for the future.
- Usage Limits: Dots operates on a separate usage limit that is entirely independent of standard ChatGPT usage limits.
